Winners of Most Hawthorne Sprint Features to Go in Steger Handicap Quizzle and Night Shadow * Expected to Match Strides In Lincoln Week-End Stake STICKNEY, 111., June 2.— The winners of most of the sprint features run so far at Hawthorne are expected to be included among the nominations for the S5.000 added Steger Handicap which the Lincoln Fields Jockey Club will present here next Saturday. Entries for the dash of six and a half furlongs were being accepted today and will be announced early next week by racing secretary W. R. Dahlstrom. Almost certain to be among the subscriptions is A. S. Higgins Quizzle, who followed up his victory in the Crete Handicap with a dead heat success in the Francis S. Peabody Memorial Handicap. Mrs. Frank Nugents Espino Gold tied Quizzle for top honors in the Peabody. Also likely to be made eligible are Mrs. Robert McGarveys Night Shadow, who t accounted for the Beverly Purse, and Leon Tikulskis Holdall, who captured the Inaugural Handicap. Night Shadow, being kept on edge for next Saturdays engsge-ment. breezed a half mile through the mud here this morning. She was eligible for the | longer Peabody Memorial on Decoration Day. but passed up that test in favor of the ; shorter Steger. Several others who may be in the Steger line-up are the Brolite Farms Full Cry, I I who twice has finished in front this meet-j ing. W. H. Bishops Final Glory, Hyman Friedbergs Harriet Sue. Mrs. Edward I I McCuans Wise Moss, H. H. Fausetts Grey j Days, and C F. Martins Bring Me Home. The Steger will be one of two attractive I features on next Saturdays card. The other is the St. Charles Handicap at a mile and 1 a sixteenth and it should bring out a number of horses who a week later will be competing in the ,000 LaSalle Handicap, and another seven days later in the ,000 Lin-I coin Handicap.
