PRIVATE JOE. placed in command under energetic riding, steadied around the turn, came out in the stretch and, holding on gamely, tailed off TRAVEL. The latter, a strong factor from the start and taken out before reaching the turn, made a determined effort in the drive and was slowly getting to the winner. HOLT, blocked early, worked li | way up on the inside and outfinished PROVOKFR. The latter raced wide, rallied only weakly after reaching the stretch and, tiring, faded to hold HOLT. G. saved much ground and tired near the end. •IIST FLIP closed evenly on the inside. SAFETY EDGE had speed but tired in the final eighth. PRETTY MARY, away slowly, could not improve her position. Won driving; second and third the tame. OCCUPY forced the early pace « under occasional light urging while racing on the inside, came out in the stretch, met light interference from " SIRIUS when entering the last eighth, but recovered quicklv and, holding on with fine courage, outfinished SIRIUS. The latter, well up from the start, forced bark the tiring NIGHT CRAWLER and impeded OCCUPY Y when making hit bid, straightened up and held on well, but was not good enough. TRAFFIC COURT, away v slowly, showed an even effort. NIGHT CRAWLER, away slowly and rushed to the lead, had speed, but | was tiring when SIRIUS swerved before him nearing the last eighth. DARBY DIEPPE, far back early, started up after seven furlongs, raced into the load on the inside, then drew out under a hand ride. FIGHTING STEP, taken back early, was sent up on the inside in the stretch, was eased when in close quarters soon after reaching the stretch, but rallied stronaly when clear and outfinished AIR SAILOR in the last stride. The latter had speed from the start, swerved out in the stretch and hung on well under a drive. POT O LUCK, outrun to the stretch, was blocked as he started up, but recovered quickly when clear and dosed full of run. BEST EFFORT bore out on the final turn and closed well while continuing to race wide thereafter. BYMEABOND. eased back approaching the second turn, came out entering the stretch, bore oer when punished, causing much crowding and weakened in the last sixteenth. SFA SWALLOW, a strong factor from the start, was sharply impeded in the stretch and never recovered. FOREIGN AGENT was jostled about in the stretch.
