Omaha War Bond Day Nets 4,656,330 Sale Myles Schaffers ,000,000 Bid Tops All Made at Omaha OMAHA, Neb., June 19. — Ak-Sar-Ben, Omaha and Douglas County gave an overwhelming patriotic showing on todays opening of the Omaha plant, by purchasing 4,656,330 in War Bonds for the "War Bond Day" drive, sponsored by Ak-Sar-Ben. Nels Kraschel, former governor of Iowa, served as auctioneer to gather the bids which totalled a larger War Bond sale than New York Belmont Parks former record race track sale of 0,000,000. High bidder of the estimated 10,000 spectators for the inaugural program, which was conducted under sunny skies, was Myles Schaffer, representing the companies of United Benefit Life and Mutual Benefit Health and Accident Company. His contribution to the total was ,000,000. The first offering of the afternoon showed jockey Rafael Sanabria getting off to a good start by winning on his first mount on a United States race track. The popular Cuban rider, one of the leading reinsmen this year, piloted Merry Marine between horses to win drawing away. A ticket on the winner returned backers .60.
