T. Catalano; bred by Valdina Farm. WENT TO POST-5:20. OFF AT 5:201 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. VALDINA VALET, showing a liking for the going, sprinted into a commanding early lead, was taken under wraps while maintaining his advantage until entering the stretch, then was shaken up and ridden out to the end. SHA WHAN was going easily while following the pace closely for six furlongs, was taken out in the better going on the far turn, then was steered to the middle of the track for the drive and closed willingly. CRAZY HORSE, a prominent factor from the beginning while racing on the outside, moved up rounding the turn out of the backstretch, then weakened slightly under pressure. WAPAN could not keep up. GRAY SYNGO was unable to threaten. JUSTINIAN II. was devoid of early speed. CEE RAF could not untrack himself. BUS V. Z. had no mishap. JACK VENNIE, kept within striking distance early, began moving up on the outside leaving the backstretch, responded to stout handling in the stretch and outfinished TEXALITE in the final seventy yards. The latter assumed command when FUNROW faltered, drew into a short lead, then held on with good courage. FUNROW was sprinted into a long early lead, only to shorten strides rounding the final turn. PHARFOX closed with a rush through the stretch. ROMAN GOVERNOR, prominently placed, had no excuse. MAGIC HASTE tired after six furlongs. MAGNESIUM made up ground in the final furlong.
