BILL G., forwardly placed from the beginning, came out slightly entering the stretch and, responding readily when shaken up, easily disposed of GAY FRANKA to win going away. GAY FRANKA, a sharp factor from the beginning, went to the front near the stretch and held a clear lead when settled for the drive, but was not good enough for the winner, although easily best of the others. MARIE J. raced evenly in a good effort. SAMERON assumed command before going a quarter, but failed to stay. MY BLITZEN was outrun. VELVET HEELS began fast, but could not keep up. FLORIZAN SAM saved ground while racing forwardly placed to the stretch, responded to brisk handling during the drive and, disposing of ALL GOOD, then held RIP AWAY safe. The latter, never far back, worked his way forward steadily and finished fast in a sharp effort. CYCLORAMA, a keen factor from the beginning, was forced wide entering the stretch, then finished strongly. ZIG ZAG raced evenly to the stretch, then faltered. BIT GAY, on the outside throughout, never was dangerous. GRENOUILLE began slowly. BEL REVERE, weakly handled, was never dangerous after the beginning. Overweight— Cyclorama, 2 pounds; Grenouille, 3. IRON WORKS, never far back and well ridden, took command approaching the stretch and increased his advantage thereafter without the need of urging. GOLD BILL, outrun to the upper turn, moved up boldly on the outside when roused, but could not threaten the winner, although easily best of the others. ELCAN began fast and raced prominently to the stretch, then weakened. CHIEF BUD, unprepared at the beginning, was vigorously ridden to reach serious contention, then tired after his early effort. MIGHT STEP could not keep up. AFGHANISTAN gave way after making the pace to the half. CHISLAM was done early. Overweight— Afghanistan, 1 pound. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. COLUMBUS DAY worked his way forward on the inside, was taken up slightly when impeded on the upper turn, came between horses to take command when ready and drew clear without need of urging. ALUMONT, reserved until reaching the stretch, finished willingly under brisk handling, but could not threaterr the winner. PONY EXPRESS, forwardly placed and well ridden from the beginning, made a good bid when set down for the drive, then weakened nearing the finish. BRACE PLAY made the pace for five furlongs, then faltered. BRADWIN was outrun. OLES GAL raced wide. CHERBOURG could not keep up. Overweight— Oles Gal, 1 pound.
