Woodbine Inaugurates Its Own Meeting Today TodayFourteen Fourteen Named for Each Half Of Featured 2500 Plate Trial TrialWOODBINE WOODBINE PARK Toronto Ont May 15 Without the labors of making any scenery changes or the shifting of any props the annual sevenday spring meet ¬ ing of the Ontario Jockey Club begins Monday at the grounds of the Ontario Jockey Club As in other years the session will be highlighted by the Kings Plate Canadas most coveted turf prize and it will have its eightninth running on Vic ¬ toria Day May 24 final day of the meet ¬ ing ingIn In addition to the Plate and Plate Trial other timehonored contests set for deci ¬ sion at the O J C Stand are the Anthony L Smith Steeplechase Queens Cup Hand ¬ I icap Frazer Memorial Steeplechase Wood ¬ stock Plate King Edward Gold Cup Wood ¬ bine Steeplechase and Victoria Stakes The inaugural program of the Ontario Jockey Club meeting is far and away the best of the young local racing season It is highlighted by the 2500 Elate Trial and when split by racing secretary Anthony Simms no fewer than 14 were named for each division All can start and should there be no scratches two of the contest ¬ ants in each event will get under way from outside the starting gate
