Sport in West Virginia Opens at Charles Town TownLimit Limit Fields of Fourteen Are Entered in Each of Eight Races RacesCHARLES CHARLES TOWN W Va May 15 The 43day spring meeting of the Charles Town Jockey Club Inc gets under way Monday arid there is every indication that the ses ¬ sion will prove one of the best ever offere at the picturesque local plant Racing sec retary Fred Burton reports that a plentifu supply of horses is stabled on the grounds and can cite the number of entries for the inaugural program as evidence of that fact factLimit Limit fields of 14 have been entered for each of the eight races on the card Many of the horses engaged are familiar to Charles Town regulars but others here have been shipped here from Maryland Ohio Florida New Jersey Rhode Island and other states The competition should be spirited throughout the long meeting meetingBurton Burton has fashioned an interesting pro ¬ gram two of the races being at one mile and a sixteenth and the other sprints rang ¬ ing from four and a half furlongs to seven furlongs Occupying the sixth and fea ¬ tured spot is an allowance race at the lat ¬ ter distance and which has as its high weights under 121 pounds Blue Steel Tint rel and Country Dude vThe lone other contest on the opening card which is not a claimer is the seventh event an allowance dash at lour and a half furlongs Heading the lineup for this sprint are W Kendricks Free Valley who won three of her four starts at Lincoln Downs and H N Warrens Annies Dream also very successful at the Rhode Island course
