William Penn Stakes Will Engage Juveniles Large Field Expected Saturday From List of 126 Nominations NominationsGARDEN GARDEN STATE PARK Camden N J May 15 Garden State Parks 40day spring meeting enters its final two weeks of competition on Monday With Mary ¬ lands spring season having come to a con ¬ clusion with todays Preakness running at Pimlico many of the stakes and handi ¬ cap performers who saw action during the Maryland season now will be available for the remaining Garden State Park features featuresThere There is only one stake feature on the agenda for the coming week but this is the 10000 William Penn Stakes which has proven to be one of the associations most popular features A fivefurlong dash for twoyearold colts and geldings the Wil ¬ liam Penn will y headline next Saturdays program and a large and excellent field is in prospect prospectReflecting Reflecting the immense popularity thi William Penn holds for horsemen was the overwhelming number of nominations re ¬ ceived for the race which closed on April 1 A total of 126 juveniles were entered and from that group racing secretary M C Ty Shea should expect very little diffi ¬ culty mustering a large and stellar start ¬ ing field Many fieldMany of the most prominent racing sta ¬ bles in the country are represented in the list of nominees and although there are many juvenile features lying ahead the William Penn will play its part in estab ¬ lishing the divisions early leaders leadersWhile While New York and Maryland are ex ¬ pected to be represented in the race the William Penn field will be comprised largely of juveniles who have Darned his spurs during the current meeting Out ¬ standing among the local lights who are expected to seek the liberal William Penn purse are Brady Dots Hero Brookfield Farms Ism Walter P Chrysler Jrs Fu ¬ gitive Darby Dan Farms Danherst and Impact T H Heard Jrs Deep Fen Mrs Moody Jolleys Mr Jay E and F Kqhns Bernhervie Edward P Metz Count Ed burn Mrs Homer Pardues Rodger Joe Mrs Alfred Roberts Eatontown J M Roeblings Blue Peter Carolyn K Stables HiJohnnie and D A Rosenbaums Amer ¬ ican Glory GloryTwo Two of the more prominent William Penn eligibles were on the training track for short drills this morning Hi Johnnie was clocked threeeighths in 37 breez ¬ ing while American Glory and Eatontown went half miles in 51 and 5I respec ¬ tively Both were breezing breezingMiss Miss Helen Higdons Red Dawn one of the better juvenile developments of the Kentucky spring season is being prepped for the race and revealed nice speed and action this morning in working half mile in49 Red Dawn arrived only recently from Churchill Downs Besides the William Penn Stakes two other features for twoyearolds will be renewed before the meeting concludes on MondayMay 31 On Wednesday May 26 the 10000 New Jersey Stallion Stakes will be featured while the 15000 Garden State Stakes the associations principal juvenile feature will be run on Monday May 31 Outstanding attraction of the meeting of course is the 50000 Jersey Stakes for threeyearolds which will be renewed on Saturday May 29 Eleventh and final stake of the meeting is the 25000 Vine land Handicap for fillies and mares which will be cofeatured with the Garden States Stakes on the final afternoon of the meet ¬ ing
