Training at Detroit Greatly Accelerated AcceleratedLong Long Meeting at Fair Grounds Track Will Begin on Saturday SaturdayDETROIT DETROIT Mich May 15 Training ac ¬ tivities at the Detroit Fair Grounds have been greatly accelerated during the past several days due to the recent arrival of a number of units that will campaign at the Motor City course during the forthcoming lengthy session Numerous other stables are expected to arrive within the next sev ¬ eral days from the Churchill Downs and Chicago tracks tracksMost Most of the officials for the Detroit spring and summer meeting which opens on Saturday May 22 are now on hand while the remainder are expected to arrive within the next several days Jack S Young steward representing the Kentucky State Racing Commission at the Louisville course and presiding steward at the local track will arrive Monday MondayOther Other officials for the ensuing Detroit meeting include Joseph A Murphy stew ¬ ard representing the Michigan Racing Commission Charles A Bray and A L Copland associate stewards Allan W Lee Frank Otis and John Sabo placing judges Charles F Henry racing secretary James Donovan starter Frank Otis clerk of scales William G Kelly paddock judge and W G Kelly and F Ray patrol judges judgesCofeatured Cofeatured on the openingday program are the 10000 Boots and Saddle Handi ¬ cap a sixfurlong dash for threeyearolds and upward and the 7500 Man o War Handicap a one and onesixteenth miles contest for horses of the same age group Both fixtures are expected to attract qual ¬ ity fields and provide interesting sport for the Detroit patrons In addition to the feature presentations the Inaugural Purse a 3000 event for twoyearolds over the distance of five furlongs will be offered
