Endeavour II Retired Permanently Luro Says SaysBELMONT BELMONT PARK L L Elmont L I N Y May 22 Jorge dc Atuchas Endeavour II who was scratched from todays Metropolitan Handicap after showing signs of lameness when blowing out this morning has been retired perma ¬ nently trainer Horatio Luro said this morning The huge son of British Empire who won his last start at Jamaica in impressive style showed signs of serious trouble with his susr pensory muscle and Dr D E South ¬ ard advised that the stallion be re ¬ tired from racing rather than risk drastic injury injuryLuro Luro said that plans for the future of Endeavour II could not be for ¬ mulated before his status had been discussed with the United States customs commissioner next week as he is in this country on bond Sev ¬ eral North American breeders have expressed an interest in acquiring the huge dark bay stud who was flown from Argentina last July to take part in the Empire Gold Cup Though failing in that race and his subsequent efforts at Santa Anita Endeavour II indicated that he had both class and speed and his recent victory at Jamaica was ridiculously easy He was the leading handicap horse in Argentina at the time he was flown to the United States
