Ascot Park in Readiness For Saturdays Inaugural InauguralASCOT ASCOT PARK Northampton Ohio May 31 The second meeting of seven sched ¬ uled this season at three race tracks In northeastern Ohio opens here on Saturday for a run of 19 days The Cranwood Park session now in progress near Cleveland began the 1948 Ohio racing season This meeting is next in order with Randall Park also near Cleveland slated to fol ¬ low for a run of 43 days Then the sport returns for the second time for 19 days each at Cranwood and this track to com ¬ plete the schedule scheduleThis This year the Ascot Park Jockey Club operators of this threequarter mile plant which is located five miles northeast of Akron celebrates its tenth anniversary Dan E Cronin general manager of Ascot Park expects the approaching meeting to be the most successful staged here since taking over the helm in 1938 Ascot Park was formerly known as Northampton Park and the inaugural meeting was held to 1922 1922Cronin Cronin today announced the plant In readiness to open Saturday The grand ¬ stand sports a fresh coat of paint and the paddock which was constructed last year on the left end of the grandstand has a guard rail added to it this season for the protection of the fans
