Knight Group to Submit Plans to Bredin Shortly ShortlyOrganization Organization Headed by Detroit Industrialists Kentucky Breeders BreedersFAIR FAIR GROUNDS Detroit Mich June 2 Henry H Knight Kentucky breeder stated here late this afternoon that he headed a group of Detroit and Michigan industrialists and breeders of Kentucky who are planning to erect a new race track in Detroit DetroitOur Our organization will be completed in about 10days Knight said We will then lay our plans before Mr Bredin Lewis L Bredin Michigan racing commissioner for his approval If we obtain his approval we will announce our backers 75 jer cent of whom will be industrialists from here and other cities in Michigan and will proceed immediately with the erection of a new track here hereWe We have two sites in view but will not decide on either until we have satisfied Mr Bredin BredinAsked Asked about the possibility of his group amalgamating with the eastern group who announced plans for a new track last week Knight said We dont know anything about that and do not plan on going into this deal with anyone except ourselves ourselvesBredin Bredin told Knight that he was giving him the same green light that he had given the eastern group recently meaning permission to go ahead with arrangements which he will have to approve before either group is given racing dates datesWhile While Knight would not divulge the names of his group until after his organi ¬ zational plans were completed he admitted that E E Dale Shaffer owner of Cold stream Stud was in the group FAIR GROUNDS Detroit Mich June 2 Commissioner Lewis L Bredin issued the following statement today todayTo To clarify any possible misunderstand ¬ ing on the status of negotiations between the State Racing Commission and the Thoroughbred Turf Club which proposes to build a new multimilliondollar track in the metropolitan Detroit area I wish to make the following points 1 A preliminary permit has been given the Thoroughbred Turf Club to encourage them to proceed with organizational plans 2 A final permit will be issued if and when the Thoroughbred Turf Club submits its final roster of officers and backers and its financial structure and same are sat ¬ isfactory to the commission 3 No specific racing dates can be issued for some time until construction has pro ¬ gressed to a point where completion can be reasonably anticipated anticipatedHenry Henry Knight representing a group of Kentucky horsemen and Detroit business ¬ men was reported in the Detroit area today looking over prospective sites for the con ¬ struction of a race track
