Sportsmans Park Notebook Kosibas Plan to Enter Breeding Phase Of Sport in Michigan on Modest Scale By J J MURPHY SPORTSMANS PARK Cicero HI May 8 Grace Kosiba of Detroit whose runners divide their time during the spring summer and autumn months between Chicago and The Motor City is planning on going into the breeding end of the business on a modest scale according to Harold C Hoffman who has her care here Mrs Kosiba recently purchased the 8 5 a c r e Jerry Mc ¬ Carthy Farm at North ville Mich and now has eight mares in foal on the place A colt by Platter out of Alphas First arrived not long ago and the others are expected soon Hoff ¬ man announces that the sixyearold mare March Proudly who won a good percentage of her races has been mated with Bully Boy Mrs Kosibas green silks have been prominent here for the past couple of seasons and will be carried in the Peabody Memorial at Lincoln Fields by the good threeyearold Sub Fac ¬ tor who trained for the Kentucky Derby but started in another event on Derby Day and defeated a good field fieldA A A A ASub Sub Factor won a half dozen races as a twoyearold last season and two out of seven starts during the first three months of this year He was fourth in a 17horse field in the Louisiana Derby Mrs Kosibas husband Peter who is just as greatly interested in horses as is his wife is one of the most prominent automobile dealers in Detroit Last year the Kosiba horses earned 124065 in purse money having 56 firsts 66 seconds and 73 thirds They have a promising young rider in the apprentice Owen Headley whose contract they pur ¬
