Three Fillies Nominated For Qhio Derby Renewal ThistlePown Stakes Draws Stay Smoochie Red Baby Little Hunk HunkCLEVELAND CLEVELAND May 13 Nominations for the 27500 Ohio Derby do not close until June 14 but ThistleDown general manager John OKeeff e reports that there are stron indications that one or more fillies will start in the 1 18 miles event on June 21 21II II J Collins Paradisical who won the 1935 edition is the last distaff racer to win the Derby and a filly has not started in the race since it was renewed at Thistle ¬ Down in 1953 1953However However among the early nominations for this years twentyfourth renewal are Dorchester Farms Stay Smoochie yinner of the 10000 Oaks Prep at Churchill Downs recently H L Andersons Red Baby and E Rasberjys Little Hunk HunkStay Stay Smoochie who is trained by Jack Prince an exClevelander also captured the 6furlong Jasmine Stakes at Hialeah this past winter She was sent off as sec ¬ ond choice in the 1 116 miles Kentucky Oaks but was blocked in the backstretch fffid finished fifth fifthShe She has yet to travel the 9furlon Derby distance but Price feels she has shown every evidence of being able to stay the route and intimates that he is giving serious consideration to starting the filly in ThistleDowns oldestevent The 44day ThistleDovn meeting opens May 28 and closes July 17
