Armeath handled the weight in good style and was under a hard drive in the stretch to catch Tim D. Jr., but was going away at the end. He is a good horse and steadily improves. Tim D. Jr. got off flying, showed a fine turn of speed and hung on gamely at the end. His weight was too much for Cinquevalli and Burns was hustling him on the stretch turn to keep up. Wealth was crowded out at the start and made up a big gap and finished going fast. Orloff made up a lot of ground. Schoharie will do iri slower company. Mamari ran poorly. Molinos is a good game colt, broke well, but was outrun early and had to stand a long hard drive to get up. Highball closed up with a rush at the end under a hard drive and his race was a good one. Hazelwood is a consistent youngster, was in a jam on the backstretch, but made up ground and was gaining on the winner at the end. Tim Payne showed great speed, but was made too much use of and tired badly in the stretch. Careless tired after going a good half mile. Graziallo tired after being hard ridden to get to the front and was eased up in the final sixteenth. There was a jam on the backstretch soon after the start and all the horses suffered but Tim Payne, as he was clear at the time Molinos, show, out. Highball, show, 2 to 1. Hazelwood, show, 1 to 3. Under a good ride he forced the pace throughout, showed fine speed and finished gamely, but was all out and doing his best at the end. Africander had to go all around his field to get up, finished going fast and the race should fit him. He is a good colt when right. Colonist could not keep up In the first part of the race, but made up ground in the stretch. Dr. Saylor tired when hard pressed in the stretch. Ahumada was used up racing with the winner and his race for seven furlongs was a good one. Embarrassment got off poorly, but made up ground and was a sharp contender to the final furlong. Miss Dorothy was pulled up in the stretch. Pageant wheeled as the barrier went up. Scratched— 38672 Orloff, 103; 38403 Squanto, 98. Overweights — Miss Dorothy, 2 pounds. Rightful, show, 7 to 10.
