Maximilian was moving up when he blundered Over, the water jump afc-the end of a mile and a quarter and was put out of commission when probably second best. Desirous, away poorly and seemingly outpaced in the early running, finished well. IIeknows"ran Well throughout, sprinted well in tub finish and likes soft going". Nimbus was in early hard and strenuous pursuit of the winner and tired badly right at the end. Spooner retired early, but was palpably handicapped bv the going throughout. Fouutainblue ran in close pursuit of the pacemaker from the start, challenged on the inside In the. last quarter and just failed to get up, not being quite keyed up, and ran a grand race. Montgomery, sore and unfit and badly messed about early, closed up rapidly in the last half, but tired fast at the end and was palpably short. Kentucky Beau made the running for a mile under a hard pull, then relinquished the lead and waited on Blue Book, drew out slightly on the last turn, but tired finally and probably was handicapped by the going, but ran an extra good race. Lord Lovat ran Avithln striking distance for seven furlongs, but failed in an attempt to get through! on the last turn. Don Enrique, after forward pursuit of the pacemaker, failed to stay.. Jennie AAells finished Avell. Lady Anne got aAvay poorly and threatened the leader in the first quarter, but retired quickly on the last turn and ran a bad race. Jacquin also ran a very bad race.
