Illusion went into the lead at once and showed the most speed throughout, but was suddenly brought to the whip in the final sixteenth and just lasted long enough. F. E. Shaw, in a long stretch drive, finished resolutely and would have won in a few more strides. The" Sultan ran a good race and tired only in tho final hundred yards. Giovanni Balerio finished fast. Monheiiner closed an early gap and gradually closed up on Macias In tlie final eighth aud, finishing gamely under the whip, finally won out after much humping in the closing strides. Macias set a sharp pace for a half mile and tired only in the last few strides under punishment. Nick Stouer ran forwardlv throughout and suffered from interference in the closing strides, hut finished gamely. Whidden got olf poorly and made up ground in the final quarter. Dredger finished fairly well and can do mucli better. Karodo showed speed. Miss Fairbanks ran well to the stretch and Is promising. Henry O. was saved from the early pace.then moved np rapidly after turning into the homestretch and outgamed Gentle Harry at the end. The latter showed the most early speed and held on gamely, hut his effort was too much for him and he was tiring fast at. the end. Ormondes Right ran prominently throughout, but tired badly in the final eighth. Adonis finished well. Joyner went well for a mile. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. All Alone displayed brilliant speed throughout and held Creston safe all through the final eighth. Creston ran a good race and, under keen urging through the final sixteenth, finished gamely, but was not good enough. Stanley Fay was under the whip all through the stretch and closed up ground gradually Into a close up third. Raleigh and Lackfoot showed speed, hut both tired in the stretch drive. Cork Hill began slowly, but made up ground fast after rounding the far turn, dashed past Arragon mid way of the stretch and won as his rider pleased. Supine was always prominent and, in a long stretch drive, finished resolutely. Arragon tired fast after setting the pace for the first six furlongs. Onoto Watana showed speed. The others were never serious contenders.
