NOTES OF THE TURF. The sale of the Schwartz yearlings will take place in the Oakland paddock November IS. Aimee C Fore and other horses that Charlie Casey will train at Oakland will be raced in the name of the Lakewood Stable. Jockey Reid, who showed good form at the Dallas meeting, arrived at Santa Anita Park last week and will ride for the Pasadena Stable. Charley Sanfords useful selling plater. High Gun. has developed a quarter crack, but Sauford believes the horse will not be affected by it very long. Trainer Buxton of the Fleur de Lis Stable is training. for Mrs. Allen the fast sprinter. John A. Mallon. This horse won several races at the Butte meeting and may be a useful performer at Oakland during the winter. "The thorough overhauling that the magnificent Oily Park plant has received recently," says the Picayune, "looks like a ninety-days meeting and some fine snort, despite the many rumors that there will be no racing at New Orleans the coming winter." R. T. Offutt has named Maltbie. a three-year-old maiden by Deeriug. to thirteen Santa Anita stakes. A two-year-old colt of his by Deeriug worked live-eighths In 1:004 the other day and lias leen nomi-natcn to the Los Angeles Derby to be run next March. James Coffey, who arrived at Oakland last week, after racing his string on the British Colombia circuit, is recovering from the effects of an injury he sustained when one of his horses kicked him while he was transferring them from Victoria to Vancouver. Jockey McLaughlin, who was reinstated at Salt Lake City a few days ago. after having been under suspension for several weeks, has returned to California and will ride at Oakland for the stable that Dan Dennison is training for P. Albertson. J. A. Murray and other owners. A batch of nominations mailed by Mose Goldblatt from Latonia have failed to reacQi the New California Jockey Olub and Goldblatt will bo permitted to duplicate his nominations, having forwarded proof that he had mailed the missing lot prior to the announced time for the closing of the stakes.
