Bashti will be shipped to England for the hpsom Oaks, in which she is engaged next season. Bashti is also in the Futurity and the Matron, shortly to be run in this country, as well as in all the important three-year-old fixtures of next season. Bidding t o-gan on the fillv at 915.000 and the price quickly jumped to 925,000. with S. C. Hildreth. Thomas Welsh and Mr. MeCready figuring as principal bidders. Mr. Hildreth made the last unsuccessful bid of S.00 . Bashti. it has been generally recognized, is unquestionably the best of her age and sex in training in this country, and there are many who entertain the idea that she has no superior among the colts of her age. She has already won 918,990 and is conceded to have a good chance to win the Futurity. She has started six times, winning five races, including one overnight affair, the Criterion Stakes, the Astoria Stakes, the Vernal Stakes and the Spin-away Stakes. In the Vernal Bashti at even weights made a show of Bound the World, which had previously beaten Iron Mask and Naushon iu the Great Trial. Bashtis sole defeat occurred in her first start, when Golden Agnes beat her, but in that affair Bashti was interfered with and did not run as she since has. The $:;o.00o paid for Bashti by Mr. Whitney today is the record price for a filly at auction in this country. The best previous price was when Phi ftp .1.
