AMERICAN HARE WINS FAME IN ARGENTINA. On Sn::day. .l.inuary 21. the last of tlie big races of the Argentine season was nin at Palermo. This was the Preoaie Capital weight for age, of 2,500 metres, worth 16,082 pesos to the winner. 2,532 to the second, and l.LTti to the third. It was won by the four-year-old Canipanazo. bv Diamond Jnbilet — Celerin t. beating Iloripar. Grand Senor. Changui and five others. I. Torterolo rode the winner, which got home by a short neck. Celorina has proved an extraordinarily successful brood mare in the Argentine. Colerina. by Goldfinch -Cariss-ima. was bred in the Halted States jn ]s!»7 and exported to Knglnnd in 1n9s for Simpson .lay. She wiiii a race or two. and was put to the stud in 1900. For three sa-ccssivo years 1!M|1. IMS, MM she produ-od dead foals, but in Cekrinas fourth season the produced a filly by Love Wisely. The follow ing year came Potomac, a Winner by Wise-inae. Next year she had a colt by Obcron. and she was exported thai WT year to Huenos Airus. where Ignacio Correas bought her. Since then she has bred a continuous MKCCaaiaa of ically high-class winners. Though foaled in the Halted States, Colerina has only one dash of American blood in bar through Kingfisher, her grandam being Camilla, by King Tom. She is a good-looking, blood-like male with much of Goldfinchs character.
