CLOSEST OF FINISHES AT HAVANA Only Smallest of Margins Separate First Five Horses in Yesterdays Third Race HAVANA Cuba March 31 Todays program at Oriental Park was made up of a series of selling races a majority being sprinting distances While the fields were not large they were well matched and most of the winners were well extendd to win by small margins Wida an apprentice who was developed during the meeting and who has shown steady improvement was in rare form landing two mounts as winners Jockey Frach also rode two winners winnersThe The finish in the third race was the most excit ¬ ing of the afternoon five of the eight starters passing the judges stand in a compact bunch The pacemaker Comfort lasted just long enough to beat Corson by i nose Miss Wright ran a game race in the opener She was passed by Pajaroita II while rounding the far turn but in the home ¬ stretch came again and outstayed the tiring leader Prince Bonero was forced to overcome rough treat ¬ ment in the second race At the end he finished gamely and won by a half length from the tiring Syrian Encore made a runaway affair of the fourth but at the end was hard ridden to beat Storm Bound a scant length Manganese set a terrific pace in the fifth and drew away when entering the homestretch and tired badly in the last eighth but lasted long enough to beat the fast closing Senator James by a neck neckMrs Mrs C H Sprague claimed Sky Man for 700 and H W Plant claimed Manganese for S700 S700Two Two carloads of horses left Oriental Park this morning One was consigned to Maryland and the other to Kentucky The Maryland shipment was made up of horses owned by A Lezama W C Daly E G Vivell M Smith and John Pangle The Kentucky shipment included Thomas V Fenchter F Rector R J Farris and J Grifins horses
