CHURCHILL DOWNS9 FINE MEETING OVER 300000 DISTRIBUTED IN STAKES AND PURSES PURSESDURING DURING TWENTY DAYS OF RACING E R RBRADLEY9 BRADLEY9 S DERBY VICTORY BRINGS BRINGSHIM HIM ALL THE HONORS The Churchill Downs spring meeting of 1921 embraced twenty days of racing beginning May 7 and ending May 30 There were 140 races run and the imposing total of 302090 distributed in stakes and purses the daily average distribution amounting to 15101 The historical Kentucky Derby was as it always has been the outstanding attraction of the meeting That it was won by a Kentucky breeder and owner enhanced its value more so than ever even the fact that its monetary value was the greatest in its history Groat horses have raced in Kentucky before but never in the past were there so many available for the entire racing period as was the case with the meeting just ended This was reflected in the many interesting and spirited races that delighted the immense crowds that were in daily attend ¬ ance While financially the meeting because of money stringency failed to come up to the high mark of last year in every other respect it was a pronounced success Fortune not only smiled kindly on E K Brad ¬ ley she was lavish with her gifts To win the Kentucky Derby is an honor coveted by all turfmen rich and poor alike but to have horses of ones own breeding and ownership finish first and second in it is indeed filling the cup to the brim This was the good fortune of Mr Bradley as everyone knows But Dame Fortune did not stop hero for the end of thp meeting finds the Bradley Stable with greater winnings to its credit than ever before to its recorl in any entire year of racing with the exception of 1920 The Bradley horses won 00327 placing the name of the master of Idle Hour Stud at the head
