GRACE E. look the lead quickly and. after having raced CASTANET into defeat, saved ground when entering the stretch and. drawing away under vigorous ridiug, held the race safe in the final drive. PASTORAL began in a tangle, but saved ground when entering the stretch and just got up for second place. NIGHTBOAT began slowly and, moving up steadily, was taken to the inside on the stretch turn, where he was shuffled back, then came again on the outside and finished fastest of all. CASTANET tired after racing into the lead and was in close quarters iu the last sixteenth. JAUNEBAR showed speed. Scratched 57601;Flying Jib, 107; 57G34:Muaele Man, 102; 07295 Attn Gal, 110. ESQUIRE set a good pace to the stretch", but tired when challenged. TIDINGS ran well and had no mishaps, but tired finally. TIXG-A-L1NG raced gamely. ROSS R. dwelt at the start and closed a gap. BON HOMME took the lead at once and, making the pace fast, raced TODY into early defeat, and maintained his advantage under energetic riding. DRY MOON raced well up and gained slowly under hard riding, but could not overhaul the leader. LAST STRAW began slowly and closed up rapidly on the stretch turn, but fired in the stretch drive. MERCURY saved ground on all the turns and ran a good race. DIMMESDALE tired in the last quarter. TODY quit badly. FORT CHURCHILL moved up menacingly on the last turn and raced MAAOURNEEN into defeat, but could not keep pace with the winner. MAAOURNEDN rushed into the lead early, but tired in the stretch drive. RALCO was hard ridden, but was always outpaced. APPLE JACK II. raced as if unfit and can do much better. RUNANTELL, off forwardly, but compelled to race wide in the early running, made a game challenge in the stretch and got his head in front briefly, but was tiring in the last strides. SHAFFER set a fast early pace and made a game linifh for third place. COMMANDER McMEEKIN closed up steadily and was wearing SHAFFER down at the finish. MARY PATRICIA ran poorly.
