THIRTY LEADING WINNING OWNERS RANCOCAS STABLE AND H. P. WHITNEY HEAD THE LIST WITH ONLY A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS SEPARATING THEM J. K. L. ROSSt R. T WILSON AND J. S.COSDEN FIGURE PROMINENTLY The question of supremacy among the owners, in so far as money earned by their horses in the racing of 1922 is concerned, has resolved itself into a duel between the Rancocas Stable, trained by S. C. Hildreth, and the stable of Harry Payne Whitney, presided over by James Rowe. With two such astute and skilled generals in command American followers of racing are assured of a battle royal. At the present time the Rancocas Stable leads by a few hundred dollars, the score reading Rancocas 03,025 and H. P. Whitney 92,461. The next scene of battle will be at Belmont Park, where the rich Futurity and Jockey Club Gold Cup will be decided on Saturday. Both will be represented by their best in these important fixtures. Victory for either one in the Futurity its gross value already exceeds 0,000 will give that establishment a decided advantage over the other one. It is, however, no certainty that the Futurity winner will come from either of these stables, j and should a representative from the J. K. L. Ross, R. T. Wilson, J. S. Cosden or the Green- I tree Stables be the victorious one, the leading pair will find their position at the head of I the list in jeopardy. The J. K. L. Ross stable has won 36,803; the R. T. Wilson 26,323; j the J. S. Cosden 25,3S0, and the Greentree Stable 7,472. That a glorious golden harvest is being gathered by turfmen from the racing of 1922 is strikingly illustrated in the large winnings already to the credit of our leading owners. Five of these have each won in excess of 00,000, while thirteen of them have stable earnings totaling over 0,000 each to their credit. Each of the remaining thirty show figures that total considerably above 0,000. It is, indeed, a healthy condition of the turf to record, as a glance, at the following . tabulation will reveal, the figures including the racing from January 1 to and including that of September 13.
