RIDES THREE WINNERS Jockey Pool in the Limelight at Fairmount Park Pilots Candy Lady Flag Lieuten ¬ ant and Paula Shay to Triumph Favorites Successful COLLINS VILLE 111 June 2 Fairmount Park again playeu host to a oig crowd that witnessed some interesting racing albeit there was an absence of features carded The track had dried considerably during the night and fairly fast time was the rule when a better grade of starters furnished the con ¬ tests Races at short distances again pre ¬ dominated only two races at a mile or over were offered The longer racing held the more interest for the throng throngThose Those speculatively inclined were again successful in their quest for winners for favorites registered in most of the contests Jockey Pool rode three of the shorter priced winners of the afternoon when he piloted to victory Candy Lady Flag Lieutenant and Paula Shay The latter had some fair op position in the mile race that brought out eight platers She suffered keenly by inter ference that came at the first turn where a jam occurred but raced as if much tne best and won we in hand from Iec Adrin with Island Fairy following in third place The time 141 was surprisingly good for this band bandCANDY CANDY KID IX DKIVK DKIVKPools Pools success was inaugurated in the sec ¬ ond race on Candy Lady She won after a spirited tilt with T C McDowells Scholar ¬ ship Pools next mount Kinsman also favorite failed to get a part of the purse in the third race but he came back with a vie tory on Flag Lieutenant in the fourth race Twelve started and Flag Lieutenant had little difficulty racing around the leaders at the stretch turn to draw out and win well in hand from North Breeze and Rundark Post Mistress had considerable following here but after leading for half a mile she began tiring and her diminutive rider was unable to lend her any assistince in the drive that came in the last sixteenth sixteenthT T C McDowells colors earned their first victory of the meeting when bis Laurel took the measure of five youngsters that tried conclusions with her at fiveeighths in the sixth race Laurel was a handy winner J Howard having her well in hand all during the last sixteenth Shasta Rock strongly urged succeeded in outstaying Bakaweli for second place The latter with a good ride would have been troublesome The introductory witnessed the downfall of Lupine the favorite her showing being dull and she failed to be a factor after she was allowed to run out approaching the stretch turn Triplett carrying the colors of State Senator Allie W Young of Kentucky won handily after leading for almost the entire way False Face coming with a rush through the stretch after saving much ground fin ished in second place with Good Times third They were an ordinary band that started in this race raceA3TOTHEU A3TOTHEU ARCHIBALD SUCCESS II Teller Archibald added another purse to his account here when Candy I ady led six other maidens to the finish Scholarship finished in second place and Miles Prior third Candy Lady had to be the best to win for she was taken back to last place after the start and ridden around the others She came gamely when fully straightened in the stretch and wore down Scholarship The latter raced prominently and well for the en tire distance Miles Prior would have been much closer to the leaders with an energetic ride He showed a winning performance Foretop and Shasta Graney displayed early speed but tired in the stretch M J Barrens Reward was victress in the third race She beat Neatness with Roller getting up in the final strides to head Kins man the favorite for third place Reward began fast and showed fine speed for half a mile but Neatness gained on her steadily during the final eighth and the winner had to be pressed hard to outstay the game chal ¬ lenger Kinsman raced in close proximity to the pair until the last sixteenth where he began to tire and Roller headed him for tno shorter portion of the purse purseJockey Jockey J Burke is an addition to the riding ranks here S Cowans band of twelve horses including Boon Companion winner of the 525000 added Miami Handicap are expected to arrive from Aurora tomorrow They arc in charge of trainer A G Woodman
