Scherrer May See Belmont BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 30. Joe Scherrer, the Cincinnati lad who rode Scottish Chieftain to victory in the Belmont of 1897, was discharged from a Jamaica hospital the other day after surviving an attack of pneumonia. He sent word that he hopes to be among those present on Saturday to see whether the 1947 winner compares with the Marcus Daly-owned racer that he guided home 50 years ago.
