. I | ! I i j " 1 • 1 • I • ARRIVALS AT HAWTHORNS. Pat Dunne arrived at Hawthorne yesterday with his stable of twelve race horses, including his Derby candidates Reminder and Ben-alder. Among the others in the Dunne string are Celeritas, Alcedo, Sortie, Searcher, Gold Badge, Matin and Vain. Mr. Dunne shipped from Louisville late Wednesday afternoon, right after winning the Premier stakes with Celeritas. His horses are all in good 6hape and are mostly of the stake class, the stable having been sorted down close for the Chicago season. Celeritas. a bay colt by Iroquois— Ogarita, is one of the crack three-year-olds of the year. He Tan tb« Premier Stakes mile in 1 :405, beating a strong field, and coming within one-quarter second of equaling the track record. Mr. Dunne will rest his horses for a few days preparatory to the opening at Hawthorne where he has a number of stake engagements, as follows: June Stakes Reminder, eh. c. 3, by Hanover Keepsake. Flight Stakes Celeritas, b. c, 3. by Iroquois— Ogarita. Speculation Stakes— Celeritas and Ahedo, b. c, 3, by Esher -Elopement. Juvenile Stakes— Sortie, br. c, 2, by Himyar— Favoress; Searcher, ch. c, 2, Hindo i— Queen Regent. Test Stakes-Gold Badge, b. g, 2, r.y Badge-Tweedledum ; Matin, b. g, 2, by Wagner -Boh Soir. Hawthorne Stakes -Sortie and Searcher. Charles Hughes, trainer for Charles Head Smith, the Chicago Board of Trade man, wired to the Hawthorne management yesterday that he would ship his horses, including Lieutenant Gibson, to the Cicero track on May 25th, ami asking that twelve stalls be reserv* d for him. Hughes also said he would bring Jockey Bolan.t witli him to do the riding for the Smith stable. W. M. Haye6 arrived at Hawthorne "yesterday with eleven head of thoroughbreds, among which are Loves Labor, Oscar and Vohicer. Among other trainers who will he at Hawthorne in a few days as announced in telegrams requesting stable room, are: W. H. Lartdernan with ten head, including Cambrian, Parmenion, Lamachus and Onomastus ; H. J. Scoggan. with twelve, the best of which are his Derby randi-. dates Florizar and Highland Lad ; "War-Jig Murphy with seven head, W. S. Hopkins-, with the western division of the George J. Long stable, including Isabelle, Tristraio and Bad-[ ner; Gil Curry with seven, among which is the stake filly Aurea; J.B. Lewman, with fifteen, including Flaunt, Cluster and His Eminence, and a second detachment of the T. H. Ryan string embracing St. Simonian, The Roman and The Pride. Notice that good-sized stakes will be given at the Cicero course this season is attracting an improved class of cross-country horses to Haw- thorne. A. M.
