Holtman is having good luck with the flag at Newport this week. His send-offs have been so uniformly fair and even, that all the racing reporters have made special comment on it in their news reports. The Cincinnati Enquirer of Tuesday refers to it as "the best work with the flag ever seen in the south." W. S. Barnes arrived at Hawthorne yesterday with The Lady in Blue, Lady Elite, Scarlet Lily. Shallendale, Prince of Reason. The Conqueror, Prince of Victory and several others. Bobin-son and Moore also got in with eight head, among which are Larkspur, Isabinda and John Verkes. William Wallace wired yesterday for six stalls at Hawthorne, but had to be turned away, as all the stables are full, as well as all the available barns in the vicinity of the track, over one thousand thoroughbreds being now quartered there.
