Tammany was easily the best and had no trouble in catching and passing Crescent City in the final eighth. The latter was Bpeedy for five furlongB, but was tiring in the last sixteenth. He swerved into the inside rail in the closing strides, but was free of the third horse at the time and recovered quickly enough to prevent any interfering. Digby Bell made up ground in the final quarter, but was all out by the time the wire had been reached. Both Gold Medal and Mihasa snowed early speed. St. Tammany, show, 1 to 2. He tried to close on Educate in the last sixteenth, but gave it up in the closing strides. It was simply a three horse race. Hoodwink showed early speed but tired rapidly in the last eighth. The others were never contenders.
