NOTES OF THE TURF. A cablegram from London, July 25, states that the entries for the Epsom Derby for 1903 include five horses of King Edward, three belonging to Lord Rosebery and seven belonging to Richard Croker. William C. Whitney and other American owners also have numerous entries. The Duke of Portland has ten entered. All the owners mentioned have entries for The Oaks also. The American entries for the Derby number thirty-six and for The Oaks twenty-one. The Coney Island Jockey Club has announced a new event for the fall meeting, the Hempstead Cup, with ,000 added, which includes 00 in plate. The race is a steeplechase for hunters four years old and upward, over the full course, about two and a half miles. The stake will close on August 15. At Lingfleld Park, England, July 12, in the Im-berhorne Handicap, seven furlongs, Lord Howard de Waldens chestnut horse DeLacy, five years old, by Hanover King Cup, by Kingcraft, 112 pounds, won id 1:24, the fastest on record in England. Up to July 12 the following English sires got had won over 5,000 : Persimmon, 18,267; St. Simon, 15,224; .Carbine, 13,878; Isinglass, 12,859; St. Florian, 9,895; Ayrshire, 9,784; Friars Balsam, 5,127, and Common, 5,060.
