Gould is the latest important addition to the growing ranks of the very rich Americans who have gone into thoroughbred racing in recent years, and that a prominent eastern trainer has been given carte blanc in the matter of selection and purchase price of the string of race horses owned by the retiring racing magnate, Clarence H. Mackay. The field stand and betting ring and enclosure will be enlarged to meet the growing attendance, and an additional improvement in the shape of a band stand built on the lawn has been decided upon. Mollie Brant, a green two-year-old filly, by Clifford Ballyroe, and ridden by a stable boy, finished second to Dazzling, and her disqualification lost her owners, S. Keenes two-year-old filly, Dazzling, which displayed such brilliant form in her hollow victory over a large field of good ones, and -itf very fast time, will be her owners reliance in the 0,000 special next Saturday. The Gates-Drake confederacy failed to appreciate the really good thing they bad in High Chancellor. The colt only received moderate pnpport and young Mr. Gates wagers were mainly for a place.
