I LOCAL TURF GOSSIP. J. S. Bratton came down from St. Louis to see his entry, Teller, run in the Golf steeplechase. Ho appearod somewhat disappointed on account of the horses inability to get a place at the finish as in Mr. Brattous estimation Teller is one of the grandest jumpers that ever went through a field. Mr. Bratton spoke highly of the coming meeting to be held at Kinloch Park and mentioned the many improvements that have been made thero which will prove beneficial to horsemen and the public and insure the promoters handsome returns for their liberal expenditures. The jockey displayed all his old-time cunning in the matter of handling a horse and rode an extremely hard race considering his long absence from the saddle. The second horse, by virtue of receiving fifty per cent of the run-up money, got 57.50 out of the race. Jockey Jesse Mathews, who was injured by a fall from Ice King and has been resting at his home, returned to the track yesterday and will accept naonnts- today. S. C. Hildxeth and Albert Simons will send part of their big string of horses tonight to run at the coming Kinloch Park meeting. Jookey Donnelly was fined 3 in the fifth race by the starter for disobedience at the post.
