Ada Nay received a running start, took the short way around and was skillfully reserved to the stretch and came away fast when called on, and is mearly high class. Alsono broke slowly on the outside and was compelled to run wide on both turns to have clear sailing, but finished strongly. Intervention was going fast at the end and ran in greatly improved form. Lady Albercraft on her showing today is at her best and held on in improved fashion. Virgin Soil, pocketed for the first half and jumping on horses, is a good one. Sparkle Esher was fighting it out tenaciously at the end. Forward, nearly left, closed a big gap and had no chance with the bad jockey. Won in a canter; second handily. Ordnungis in rare form and outclassed the field and led by a safe margin unoxtended throughout. Bluff broke slowly, was pocketed and had a rough journey, but finished with a rush and, jockeys reversed, would have made a closer thing of it. Kilogram held on well and is improving. Mercer was easily best of the the others and was an easy fourth, but is evidently not a good weight carrier. Martin Burke was going well at the end. Lapidus retired early and can do better. Red Damsels forte is mud, but she showed early speed. .scratched 34114 Sweet Tooth, 112; 34114 Tenagra, 109; 342112Brandy Smash, 108; 34191 2Rossignol. 104-34189 Five Nations, 104; 34211 Guess Work, 103; 33730 Gibson Light, 101. Runnels appeared hog fat and unfit, but practically forced the pace, which was comparatively slow for the first six furlongs, and unexpectedly held his own in the final drive. He evidently far outclassed the field and when entirely fit must be a high-class colt. Lux Casta, waito i with too long, ran under a choking pull in a pocket to the stretch and just failed to get up and was undoubtedly best todays Huntressa ran an unexpectedly good raco on a fast track and must be above the average. Flying Buttress was carried wide on the turo, which cost him third place. He finished strongly. Scratcued-33064 G. Stamping Ground came through next to the rail and finished with a tremendous rush. Maxnic, evidently short was outstayed by the winner right at the end after he had appeared a sure winner when a furlong out! He will easily reverse this running the next time they meet, was under pull almost throughout and is evidently in great form. Captain Arnold, crowded out at the start, closed a big gap and finished like a flash. Bensonhurst set a terrific pace closely attended by Wild Thyme, and both held on remarkably well at the end after such excessive early use. Mansard was going well in the stretch. Arabo is handicapped by wet going. Scratched Manru, 115. Stamping Ground, show, show, 7 to 10. Maxnic. show, 3 to 5. Captain Arnold, show, 6 to 5. 34267 FIFTH RACE 1 1-4 Miles. 00 added. All Ages. Advance Guard, now in rare form, was handicapped by the wet going, but courage told and he wore Sombrero down m the stretch. The latter, favored by the going and running under restraint, waited on the pacemaker to the stretch, where he went to the front, still cantering, and had the race won, but Jackson was caught napping, and nearly fell off when he saw the redoubtable Advance Guard at his quarter. The Rival went farther today and ran a fast and game race Carbuncle failed to stay in the last quarter and was not good enough at the weights. Bessie McCarthy ran in remarkably improved form in going not to her liking. Himself was outclassed. Port Royal trailed the others for the first quarter under a pull then raced into a long and winning lead at the half and was much the best at the weights. Swiftmas was unable to overtake the ligtly weighted three-year-old, put up a game race, but was evidently handicapped by the muddy going. Sadducee is a non-staver and moreover disliked the wet track.
