Meltonian broke slowly and was hopelessly pocketed almost throughout, but pulled out and came around on the outside too late to catch the winner and was easily best. Auriesville succumbed to the terrific early pace, but stuck to her work gamely at the end and is a superior class filly. Americano forced the pace for the first half and retired in the stretch. He is steadily improving and will be heard from. Dr. Saylor waB out of place after his recent long races. Bridesmaid II., away poorly, ran a good race. Scoffer was practically left. Whiskejr King showed great speed throughout and finished stoutly. Cunard broke flatfooted and was pocketed in the first half, made up much ground in a hurry in the middle half and failed to stay when in the stretch. Caughnawaga went well throughout and is improving. Francesco, nearly left, closed an immense gap and was probably best. Smart Set sustained his speed well throughout.
