SIRES OF WINNERS. The English Derby was established in 1780, and since then twenty stallions have sired two or more winners of the Blue Ribbon of England. Pot, 8 os., heads the list with seven, namely, Waxy Champion, Tyrant, Pope, Whalebone, Blucher and Whisker. Sir Peter comes next with four in Sir Harry, Arch-due, Ditto and Paris. Eclipsesrot three in Saltram, Sergeant and Young Eclipse. Highflyer sired three, namely, Noble, Sir Peter Teazle and Skyscraper. Touchstone got Cotherstone, Orlando and Surplice. Stockwell got three in Blair Athol, Lord Lyon and Doncaster. Hampton sired three in Merry Hampton, Ayrshire and Ladas. Two each j were sired by the following: Rhadamanthus and Daedalus, by Justice; Octavius and Emilius, by Orville ; Middleton and Cedric, by Phantom ; Priam and Plenipotentiary, by. Emilius ; Sam and Sailor, by Scud; Spaniel and Lapdog, by Whalebone; St. Giles and Dangerous, by Tramp ; Andover and The Flying Dutchman, by Bay Middleton; Musjid and Hermit, by Newminster ; Favonius and Cremorne, by Parmesan ; Shotover and St. Blaise, by Hermit ; Common and Isinglass, by Isonomy, and Persimmon and Diamond Jubilee, by St. Simon. The Two Thousand Guineas was establishedin 1809, and since then, up to and including 1902, but fifteen sires have been successful in getting two or more winners of this classic event. Sultan comes , first with five in Augustus, 1830; Glencoe, 1834 bra-ham, 1835; Bay Middleton, 1838, and Achmet, 1837 Touchstone comes next with four in Cotherstone, 1843; Flatcatcher,1848; Nunnykirk, 1819, and Lord of the Isles, 1855. Stockwell has four in The Marquis, 1862; Lord Lyon, 1866; Bothwell, 1871, and Gang Forward, 1873. Sorcerer got three in Wizard, 1809; Trophonius, 1811, and Smolensko, 1813. Orlando got three in Fazzeletto, 1856; Fitz Roland, 1858, and Diaphantus, 1861. Sterling got three, namely, Paradox, 1885 ; Enterprise,1887,and Enthusiast, 1889. The following Bires got two each: Haphazard, Antar, 1819, and Reginald, 1821 ; Phantom, Pindarrie, 180, and Enamel, 1825; Selim got Nicola, 1823, and Turcoman. 1827; Thormanby got Atlantic, 1874, and Charibert, 1879; Ben Or got Ormonde, 1886, and Bonavista, 1892: Hampton got Ayrshire, 1888; and Ladas, 1894; Isonomy got Common, 1891, and Isinglass, 1893; St. Simon got St. Frusquin, 1896; and Diamond Jubilee, 1900, and Galopin got Galliard, 1883, and Disraeli, 1898.
