HARLEM RACING. Probably the poorest card offered by the Harlem Jockey Club this year was run off yesterday at the Proviso course before a comparatively small crowd. The unseasonably cool and threatening weather kept the attendance down to the regulars. What little rain fell had no appreciable effect on the track, which remained fast. The first race of the day, a six furlongs dash for two-year-olds, was taken by Watkins Overton, long overdue. Yinctides led away off by himself for th6 first five furlongs and appeared as if he was going to make a runaway race of it, but in the last eighth he began to tire. Along here Watkins Overton came with a determined rush, winning easily by a length from Galba, which just got up in time to nip Vinctides on the post for second place. Galba finished stronely, but was not good enough to beat the winner. Canyon showed speed for five furlongs. Nellie Waddell, with the light impost of 92 pounds on her back, proved to be much the best at the weights in the second race, a dash of six furlongs. Off well in her stride.she assumed the lead, at once and fairly ran away from the field, winning in a canter by three lengths from Burnie Bunton, which beat Toah one for second place. Burnie Bunton had no mishaps and simply could not concede the weight. Toah finished fast after being outrun in the first half mile. Wainamoinen was knocked out of her stride by Messina when the barrier went up and had little chance thereafter. Messina stumbled at the start and threw his jockey. Admonition was high in flesh and hardly ready for a gruelling race. He pulled up lame. Wenlock was much the best in the steeplechase, taking an easy lead after the eighth jump had been taken and then running away from the field, winning by ten lengths from Lemoon, which beat Stamp five for second place. Lemoon ran well until after taking the ninth jump, where she began to tire. Duke of Bohemia jumped poorly, losing aandnch ground at each fence. The race was run without a mishap of any kind. , Lacrimae, showing sudden improvement over her previous effort, took the fourth race, a dash of one mile, in handy fashion, moving up fast in the last eighth and winning by three lengths from John A. Clarke, which finished a head before Hargis for second place. John A. Clarke finished strongly next to the inside rail. Hargis tired perceptibly when the pinch came. Jane Holly ran a good race. Off poorly, she was cut out of position at the first turn, losing much ground. She closed up her lost ground gradually in the next half mile and then stood a long stretch drive with gameness, finishing resolutely. Gonfalon was right there for seven furlongs, but faltered in the last sixteenth struggle. The fifth race, a dash of five and one-half furlongs for two-year-olds, went to Antagonist. Jack-full led by a fair margin up to the last eighth, where Antagonist, which had always lain second, passed him easily, winning by three lengths. Flocarline came with a rush in the last eighth and beat out Jackfull two lengths for second place. The latter was well spent when a furlong from home. Peri-oles was a keen contender for five furlongs but had enough when the pinch came. . Frank Bice was sever a serious contender and showed scant speed- The last race of the day, a dash of one mile, was taken by Duelist by one length from Evening Star, which beat Count Em Out a half for second place. Dmelist wore down Evening Star in the final eighth, the latter tiring suddenly in the closing strides. Count Em Out finished fast. Cork ceased to be a serious factor soon after entering the last quarter. Zyra ran far below his best form and was always outrun. She can do. better and her race sfeould not be taken seriously v
