The latter, away in his stride, made the most of his advantage and was tiring rapidly in the last furlong. Rock-water, away poorly, came from a long way back and was probably beBt today. Runnels put up a fast and game race and was going strongly at the end. Jack Rattlin was probably short and hardly good enough at the weights. De Reszke ran in moderate form. Mabel Winn was outclassed at the weights. Scratched 34797 Colonel Bill, 121; 34852 Ordnung, 120; 34037 John Barleycorn, 116: 345793Brunswick, 113; 34701 Sparklet, 108. The entry, show. 6 to 5. Clarion trailed the field to the turn, where he came around finishing strongly under a vigorous ride and was best. Merry Acrobat favors soft going and was swerving over to the rail in the last furlong in an effort to get away from the whip. Love Note is steadily improving, drew clear when straightened for the wire, but was unable to hold the advantage and was crowded into the rail or might have been second. Scioto, a good looker, will improve, was a contender up to the last furlong and held on well. Incubator -was crowded on the turn and was poorly handled. Medal was well up for the first half. Barnstormer was outrun throughout. Scratched 347953Lord of the Vale, 108 ; 34853 Manru, 108; 34559 Boutonniere, 108; 33902 Benefit, 108. Overweights Scioto, 3 pounds; Incubator, 2. Won driving; second the same, Colonel Bill is in grand form, moved to the front on the far turn and took a long and winning lead in the stretch, but was unexpectedly brought to a drive at tho end to stand off Oom Paul. The latter finished very strongly. Herbert, away badly, closed an immense gap and finished fast. Dublin is difficult to guess, was singularly deficient in early speed today and, moreover, failed to come on at the end. Himself went well. Whiskey King quit at the end of seven furlongs. Advance Guard was out of place, but closed up twenty lengths on the leaders from the half home. Ten Candles is uncertain. Gay Boy retired after going a half. Fonsolnca broke sideways, but made up considerable ground nnd being carefully ridden went to the front on the strotch turn and won going away. Mary Worth was hardly keyed up for a long race and failed to stay, but is "in fine form and due for an early win. Hot ran a fine race and was closing up strongly at the end. The Rival is a high class performer on the grass course and came away strong in the last quarter. Francesco improved suddenly and, but for making his move too soon, might have won. Zoroaster trailed for the first half and under skillful guidance came through next to the rail in the stretch and outstayed the badly ridden Daly for third place. The latter appeared a contender when a furlong out, but tired. His Emiunnce was badly crowded and foil to his knees on the far turn, after which he made up a lot of ground. Baron Pepper was also crowded back at the half, but ran a comparatively poor race and will probably improve greatly with another jockey up. Bessie McCarthy and Peninsula wero outclassed. Tho latter was sore in his preliminary. Scratched 34765 South Trimble, 100; 34822 Charawind, 90. Overweights The Rivall pound; Baron Pepper, 3. The Rival, show. 4 to 5. Francesco, show, evens.
