Lansdown ran to his best previous form and was much the best. He can beat a much better field. Royal Pirate was a sharp factor throughout and should improve. Bodoll, away badly, finished fast. He was slightly crowded on the stretch turn and might have been second but for this. Hindoo Prince saved ground in the stretch by hugging the rail and had no mishaps. Begone indulged Emir with the lead until in the last eighth, at which point Kelly shook her up a bit and she came away and won with plenty in reserve. Emir ran in improved form and showed a fine turn of early speed. Gold Cockade was badly handled in the first part of the race and carried wide into the stretch. Briers saved much ground on the last turn, but failed in the stretch run when he appeared the probable winner. The others were never dangerous. Overweights Heroine, 4 pounds: Helen Oakford, 3. Flaneur was carried extremely wide on the stretch turn, stood punishment gamely and ontstayod Dynasty. The latter was outrun in the first part of the race, saved ground on the last bend and ran in improved form. Emma C. L. forced the pace in the early stages and appeared the probable winner in the stretch, but was slightly crowded in the last sixteenth. Orrie Goan had all the worst of the crowding in..the stretch, and would have been much closer up but for this. Blonde Grayson showed a flash of early speed. Aratoma had no mishaps. Sinner Simon labored all the way and did not seem to be able to extend himself. Senator Beveridge was gradually wearing down the leaders at the end from a slow beginning. The latter ran well and contested the ground gamely through the last eighth with the winner and might have won but for being in the deepest going. Tom Hall swung wide on the last turn, but ran his race and had no mishaps. Firing Line began slowly, but made up ground in the last quarter and finished strongly. Scratched 35145President, 90. W. was much favored by the going, forced the pace for the first six furlongs and came away in the run home. Loyal Prince showed early speed, but was poorly handled and taken extremely wide in the stretch, thereby fouling L. W. and Sir Ellorslie. He was easily the best with decent handling. Sir Ellerslie showed smart improvement. Rhinewino had no mishapB. Birdie May ran well for a half. Assassin ran a dull race and can do better. Scratched 33793 John Potter. 104.
