Howendobler, lucky at the start, showed an abundance of early speed, but tired fast in the laBt sixteenth. Rose of May was allowed to lag in the early stages, but came fast under punishment and would have been second in another stride. Sol ceased to be a serious contender after going a half. Leash, away well in motion, took kindly to the going and set the pace steadily throughout, winning eased up. Whiten put up a good effort undor an inexperienced rider, was easily the best of the others and might have given the winner a stout argument if better handled. Arvensis ran a fairly good race on his own courage, RobbinB being too light to do him justice in the heavy going. Animula closed up steadily at the end, Amorous was never a serious contender and was eased up at the end when his task was hopeless. Off at the first break to a good start. Won driving; second handily. Bristol avoided the early pace, moved up well in the second turn of the Sold, saved much ground when turning into the stretch and responded gamely when called on in the last eighth. Henry Gibbs was right there throughout, followed Crests pace closely and but for being carried wide by the latter when entering the stretch would in all probability have won. Crest showed her usual speed and fenced cleanly, but the weight seemingly caused her to weaken when the pinch came. Old Fox ran well for the first turn of the course and appeared the probable winner, but a series of blunders over the next four obstacles lessened his chances and he fell away badly baaten. Tatar showed improvement. David S. fell at the first jump, and Fearful made a bad landing at the second. Overweights Harv B.,5 pounds; Tatar, 2. Bristol, show, evens. Henry Gibbs, show, 4 to 1. Mr. Dingle showed the most speed and simply ran away from the field. He attempted to loaf in the last eighth, but Prior shook him and he rallied quickly. Style ran well throughout and was much the best of the others. Musical Slipper closed up ground fast in the last-eighth and finished resolutely. She ran an impressive race. Judge Himes, all antanglod at the start, could never get up and ran far below the recent form ho has shown. Little Robbins is too light to make him run to his best form. Bay Wonder showed a Hash of early speed. Brookston was scared into exhaustion in false breakaways. Mr. Dingle, show, 2 to 1. Style, show, 4 to 5. Musical Slipper, show, 8 to 5.
