GOSSIP OF THE TURF. F. Lewis, special commissioner for John F. Schorr, the Memphis brewer, has arrived in New Tork to make arrangements for the shipment of the stable east in time to take part at the Aqueduct meeting. Twenty stalls have been engaged at Aqueduct and Jamaica, and the old training stable of J. B. Haggin, at Sheepshead Bay, has been leased. The stable will be shipped about the 10th of next month. The lot includes. Ordnung, leader of the string by right of age; Rightful, Janeway, John A. Scott and Eva Russell, all three-year-olds, and some fifteen two-year-olds. The stewards last Thursday handed down their decision relative to a protest made by E. Corrigan against F. Gering, Jr., in the claiming of Stratton. Corrigans claim was that Gering was acting for another party in the transaction. This, however, could not be proved, and the ruling as handed out by the officials read as follows: "Upon investigation of the claim of Edward Corrigan as to the good faith of the parties claiming the horse Stratton on February 20, we find nothing to justify the protest." It is said that John Burrows has bet 0 on his colt Action to win the American Derby at 500 to 1. This is the colt on which T. Burns won at 40 to 1 at Oakland in January. Action, Byronerdale and Prestolus have been entered in the Mound City Derby, to be run at Kinloch Park, St. Louis, whither the stables of J. M. Crane, J. Burrows, F. Devin, Ray Wilson and J. H. Robbins are going from San Francisco. The Coney Island Jockey Club last Monday-announced that the entries of the mares Siberia II., Quietly and Apology, owned by Thomas A. Church, were void for the Futurity of 1905, owing to the mares not being in foal. Siberia n. had been bred to St. Blaise and Quietly and Apology to the imported stallion Knight of the Thistle, and were purchased during the sale of Charles and A. J. Reeds entire stud at the Fasig-Tipton Sale Paddocks last fall. All three were thought to be in foal at the time, but recent developments showed that they were not.
