"Won driving; second the same. Keogh got away running and forced the pace throughout, ran a very game race, but was probablv lucky to score. Ravelena followed the winners pace closely and overconfidence beat her at the end. She appeared able to take the lead when a furlong out and swerved, losing some ground, but was wearing the winner down fast at the end. Rose Farr received a poor start and made up much ground throughout. The Mighty was inadequately handled. El Principe got away badly, ran green and was evidently out for an airing. Carroll. Went to post at 3:30. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Epicure, running next to the rail in the worst going and ridden a waiting race for the first half, flashed to the front when straightened for the wire an apparently easy winner, but was driving hard at the end- Honiton also trailed the tremendously fast early pace, but went wide on the stretch turn and finally swerved to the inner rail but was coming very fast at the finish. Money Muss, hard held, fell in behind the pacemakers and caught them, but was tiring badly in the last quarter. E. M. Brattain and Sad Sam raced out in front at a terrific clip, quickly opened a wide gap on the others and then quit in the stretch. Scratched 37942 Glendenning, 98. Epicure, show, 1 to 5. Star Cotton was lucky throughout, had clear sailing, liked the cuppy track and drew out right at the end. I. O. U., interfered with repeatedly and almost hopelessly pocketed in the stretch, finished like a flash through the last fifty yards and was best. Platonius was a prominent contender throughout and is evidently in the best of condition. All About failed to stay after forcing the pace for seven furlongs. Louwelsea is improving. El Piloto has seemingly trained off. Tizona ran badly and can do better. Scratched 38066 Tulare, 108; 38067 Donu, 103. Star Cotton, show, 6 to 1. I. O. U., show, "3 to 5. Platonius, show, 4 to 5. Divina, away badly and interfered with, went the longest way around and trailing to the half closed up fifteen lengths on the leaders, getting up in the last stride and was best. Forest King, lucky at the start, was forced out of position early and pocketed on the stretch turn, also finished like a whirlwind and was second best. Sweet Tooth led by a wide margin for seven furlongs and tired in the last fifty yards, being injudiciously ridden. He could probably have won if waited with. El Rio Shannon fell away in the run through the stretch after looming up dangerously on the turn. Rey Dare followed the pacemaker closely for six furlongs and tired. Sleeping Child was evidently short. Scratched 38035 Rose of May, 107. Divina, show, 1 to 3. Forest King, show, 8 to 5. Sweet Tooth, show, 2 to 5.
