W. Pangle. Went to post at 3:00. At post 2 minutes. Start fair. Won easily; second driving. Mrs Frank Foster ran a fine race and displayed improvement, yesterdays race probably putting her on edge. She could not get to the front in the first part of the race, but caught Demurrer on the stretch turn. She tired somewhat when a furlong from home and interfered with Dr. Saylor as the latter was making his run. Foul was claimed but not allowed. Dr. Saylor began slowly, but came with a rush in the stretch and would have been a keener contender but for the interference. His performance stamps him as a good colt. Hicks rode a vigorous race on Pageant, which made a wide stretch turn, but finished fast and was slowly gaining at the end. Demurrer did his best and had no mishaps. Orloff, off poorly, was taken up too quickly and tired in the stretch. Merry Maker is high in flesh. Scratched 37985sHonolulu, 115; 380182Gloriosa, 96. Overweights Dr. Saylor, 4 pounds; Pageant, 1. Won driving; second the same. Oriza displayed more gameness, than heretofore, was waited with today and closed up in the final furlong under a hard drive, swerved a couple of strides from the finish, but out-gamed Woodshade. The latter showed speed as usual and hung on well at the end. Transmigration ran well and is rounding to. Interlude is fit and good and would have won but for shying and stumbling when a sixteenth from home, nearly unseating Burns. Listaway got off poorly. Oriza, show, 7 to 5. Woodshade, show, 7 to 10. Odom put up a strong finish on Colonsay and that won for him. He was shut off on the stretch turn, but finally got through in the stretch and came with a rush, getting up in the last stride. Lord Advocate seemed the winner when a hundred yards from the wire, but tired and could not quite last. Little Boy found the route too far after forcing a fast pace. Showman ran well and would have been a contender with a good rider up. Star and Garter showed scant speed. Springbrook went well for six furlongs. Jove was in pockets all the way. Meistersinger is very fit and was in a good position throughout. He forged his way to the front in the stretch under a hard ride and was going away at the end. Tommy Foster is consistent and appeared the winner in the final sixteenth, but was outgamed in the stretch run. Animosity made up ground under poor handling and finished well. McWilliams would probably have won with an even start, closed a big gap and finished fast. Ben Battle was hemmed in all the way. Lady Potentate was messed about for the entire journey San Andres was not persevered with. True Blue needs a stronger rider. Scratched 379322Bon Mot, 110; 37949 Goldsby, 110; 38054JZirl, 85.
