Moore was the best ridden. Reed hustled him along all the way and opened up a winning lead while rounding the far turn, but the horse was tiring at the end and just managed to last long enough to stall off Moyle. Bonner took the latter back in the first half, then came on very fast and would have won in another stride. Kentucky Muddle finished well and was easily the best of the others. Ocyrohe, after getting off badly, came with a rush at the end and got up in the last few strides. Henry Luehrmann Jr. showed surprising improvement, but tired when it came to a drive. Dr. Cartledge had no mishaps, was off with the leaders and showed early speed, but tired and quit. Two Penny ran well to the stretch, but quit in the last quarter. Blazius was sore when going to the post and has bucked shins. This is a good-looking colt. Jim Ferrin swerved all over the track in the stretch run. Scratched— 39208 Louis Kraft, 98. Gilmore saved ground with her at all turns and she came through on the inside at the homestretch and finished going fast. Olefiant was taken back by Kelly a couple of times, but came very fast at the end and would have won in a few more strides. Bardolph was much used in the first half in chasing Bensonhurst and came very wide at the turn into the homestretch and carried Khaki out with him. Bensonhurst quit badly. Ninos and Phosphorus ran outside of the flag just before coming to the last jump in the field, but were pulled up and went around the right way. Ninos came very fast in the stretch run, caught Governor Boyd tiring and got up in the last stride. Governor Boyd was well ridden and had no mishaps. Phosphorus showed early speed, but tired when it came to the final drive. Mike Rice was bumped into at the sixth jump. Craven quit badly. His Lordship is a bad fencer. Islip pulled up lame. The latter was outrun for the first half and cut off at the far turn and knocked back, but closed a big gap and was wearing the winner down at every stride.
