Start good for all but Maghoni, which was practically left at the post. Won driving; secondrthe. same. Stub was well away, liked the going, saved ground on the stretch turn and just lasted long enough to win. Flash of Night was off badly, ran through her field in a hurry, came wide into the stretch, then was allowed to swerve in and Wilson eased her up, thinking he had the race won. She was coming again at the end and would have won in another stride. Dotty Shute came fast when she struck the good going in the stretch, but went badly in the mud. Bud-weiser ran a good race from where he got off. Stub, show, 4 to 1. Flash of Night, show, 1 to 2. Dotty Shute, show, 4 to 5. Maghoni, show, out. THIRD RACE— 5 1-2 Furlongs. Purse 00. 2-year-olds. Imboden broke flatfooted, but took after his field resolutely, saved much ground by hugging the rail on the turn and wore the favorite down in the stretch. J. W. ONeill got off well in his stride and seemed to have the race cinched, but he swung wide when entering the stretch. Matt Wadleigh ran his race. Brick Fowler seems to have gone off entirely. King Barleycorn is in fine form and was so much the best that he ran away from his horses while running in the deepest going. Wilson laid out of it too long with Dawson, which closed up a lot of ground from the three-eighths post home. The Way ran a creditable race. Cherished had the worst of the track and was weakly ridden. Daddy Bender was shut off on the first turn. XDur Lady received a dose of the same medicine at the half-mile ground. Echo Dale was much the best in the going and drew away from the others quickly and won eased up. Jerry Hunt was a good horse for a half mile, then tired and had to be ridden out to stall off Gas Lighters rush at the end. Gas Lighter closed up fast after being outrun in the first part of the race. Dr. Scharff was taken in the heavy going and plainly tired in it. Virgie dOr floundered badly in the going. Russellton was favored by the going and showed the most early speed, but had to be lightly shaken up to stall off Joe Doughty. The latter was off badly and made up ground rapidly, but swerved in the stretch run, but for which he- would, in all probability, have won. Chandoo did his best and had no mishaps. The others were always outrun. Scratched— 39369 Irving "Mayor, 99. Overweights — Luna Minor, 2 pounds. Russellton, show, 1 to 2. Joe Doughty, show, 8 to 5. Chandoo, show, 2 to 5. .
