Won easily; second the same. Hargis took kindly to the soft going, showed much speed throughout and made the field look cheap. Mr. Dingle ran well and was easily best of the others. Prairie Dog showed early speed, but tired. Examiner fell away beaten after running well for a half mile. Henry of Trastamare was never a serious contender. Scratched— 39349 First Chip. Soldier of Fortune came with a rush at the end and was going away fast. Salto showed much speed, but tired badly in the closing strides. Lady Free Knight also tired in the last sixteenth struggle. She bumped into Salto when a hundred yards out, throwing him slightly off his stride. Banwell ran well for four and a half furlongs. The latter tired fast when a sixteenth out after showing much speed. McChesney began slowly, but made up ground fast in the final quarter and finished going fast. He was given an easy race throughout. Lucien Appleby tired slightly in the last sixteenth. Lampoon showed speed for a half mile and then retired. Scratched— 39381Flying Torpedo, 116.
