Won easily; second driving. Whitmore was favored by the going, wore the leaders down while rounding the far turn and easily came away in the stretch run. Curate had to go all around the leaders to get up and came wide at the turn into the homestretch and, finishing fast, caught Pepper Dick tiring and got second place in the last stride. Pepper Dick did his best. Baccie showed early speed, but tired when strongly called on. There was a jam spon after the start and the last four had no chance afterward. Ailyar began slowly, but Reiff saved ground with him while rounding the far turn. He had to be shaken up in the stretch run to stall off Quiz, but finished out gamely. Quiz came again at the end and was wearing the winner down. Lovable was much used in chasing Harlem Lane and tired. The latter quit badly. Prince Light came very fast at the end and would have been third in another stride. Oconee seemingly could not run well in the going. The Bronze Demon was at home in the going and showed much early speed, but tired when called on. Goo Goo made up a lot of ground in the last half and finished fast. Mandamus did not run her race. Proceeds ran a good race in the going, but had to be hard ridden all of the last furlong to stall off Ed Tierney. The latter showed much speed, but Williams finish was a very weak one. Tufts came away without much effort in the stretch run after Bonner had rated him along for the first half. Ruby Ray made up a lot of ground while rounding the far turn, but tired in the stretch drive. Phil Archibald got caught in the barrier at the start, but closed a big gap and caught Wallabout tiring and got third place in the last stride. The latter was used up in setting the early pace.
