Winner— B. g, by Henry Young— Volandera trained by A. Shields. Went to post at 2:30. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second the same. Young Henry, from last place at the start, gradually improved his position, running on the extreme outside and, with clear sailing throughout, he mowed his field down on the far turn with a phenomenal burst of speed and, under a fierce whipping drive, got up in the last stride. Salvatella, steadily improving, was a prominent contender throughout and right at the end outlasted the others and was probably caught napping by the winners rush. Ingold ran a fast and game race and is very good. Gay Boy appeared to have the most speed of his field and seemed like the winner when a sixteenth out, but tired at the very end as if short. Rosetint ran a good race in going supposed to be unfavorable. Minotaur was roughly treated and finished close up. St. Daniel fell away in the final drive and has probably trained off. Flying Buttress, a long-striding and awkward horse, was unable to stride freely in the going. Walter Cleary far outclassed his field, fenced well, led unextended throughout and finished pulling up almost to a walk. Gum Honey finished a very tired horse, but easily disposed of the others. May Harrison closed up fast when on the fiat, where Lord Radnor quit all over after keeping fairly well up for a mile and a half. Scratched — 40250 Ohnet, 153; 40308 Gascar, 146; 40350 Memorist, 132. At post 2 minutes. Start bad. Won driving; second easily. Turquoise Blue displayed high-class form, drew clear on the far turn and closing up very fast in the stretch won going away, is a grand looker and should improve. Inquisitive Girl showed surprising form on a- track clearly not to her liking, and after Dractically forcing the pace from the start she stuck to her work with rare gameness in a "long and trying stretch drive. Audience, a reported crackerjack, made a remarkably good debut, broke and ran green in the first part of the race but was closing up on the outside like a good one at the finish. Pirouette held her own in close quarters and was going fast at the end. Marjoram had no mishaps, was simply outrun and quit under punishment in the last furlong. Monsoon was a good filly handicapped by a very slow and incompetent jockey. Sweet Gretchen was pulling up in the last furlong. * Scratched— 10325»White Plume, 119; 401823Walterin, 114; Lady Lindele, 99; 40374, St Roma, 99. Won in a canter; second easily. Fire Eater got away badly, but took to the outside on the turn and was in the lead when straightened for the run. up the backstretch, went away from the others so fast that Bullman took him up repeatedly and finished easing up and was much the best in the going that prevailed today. Cardinal Wolsey put up a game but hopeless chase and ran a superior race. This colt is one of the improving kind and can probably reverse this running on a good track. Monte Carlo held on in improved style and is rounding to, is still on the big side and should do well at Saratoga. Illyria quit badly after going a good six furlongs. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won in a canter; second driving. Lord Badge, fresh and good and particularly favored by the weights and the going, assumed the lead at the start and was pulling back to his field for the first six furlongs and, coming away like a flash when called on, he finished easing up and was much the best. Courtenay ran away from the others in the final quarter and put up a game effort. Sambo was prominent in the early running, but unexpectedly fell away at the half and then came again at the end and would have been second in a few more strides. Daly showed improvement on a track to his special liking. Peninsula tired after going a good six furlongs and was evidently short. Hunter Raine was seemingly unable to raise a respectable gallop today, being outrun from the start. His race was very bad. Scratched — 10261 Lanceman, 100. Lord Badge, show, 2 to 5. Rostand got away in his stride and indulged the leader to the far turn, where he moved up fast coming away in the stretch without much effort. Satire, poorly handled and slow moving in the early stages, commenced to gain rapidly in the last half, finished very fast and may have been best. Star and Garter showed her usual speed in the going and held on unexpectedly well. Tribes Hill was backing away from the barrier when It lifted and Bullman rushed him too fast in trying to get up the first part of the race and the horse tired badly in consequence. Irish Jewel and Arden, both of which had performed creditably on this kind of track, were never in the hunt today. , Scratch-d-40378 Homestead. 112; 40353 Water Tower, 111; 403532Black „ Hussar, 1rv7. 107; 40257 ..„,,, Belle of TroVl06; 403 Dekaber, 104; 40235 Sir Florian, 103; 40236 Am inte, 101; 402613Syrlin, 101; 40373 Courtmaid, S9.
