HARLEM STAKE ENTRIES. Entries for the nhie additional stakes closed last Wednesday by the Harlem Jockey Club, are of such quality as to insure high-class racing during the remainder of the season. Every stable that has achieved note in Chicago this year, except Middleton and Jungbluth, is represented and every per-; former of class is engaged. The nine stakes drew a total of 604 entries, an average of 67. The Golf Steeplechase has thirty candidates so that the eight fixtures to be run on the flat closed with an average of 72 nominations, an unusual number at this time of the year. The stakes with the number of entries for each follow: Entries. Tecumseh Handicap, ,000 added; 1 3-8 miles 59 May wood Handicap, ,500 added; 1 mile and 100 yards SO Prairie State Stakes, ,500 added; 1 1-8 miles 69 Cicero Stakes, ,500 added; 1 mile 84 Speed Stakes, ,500 added; 3-1 mile 79 Oak Park Handicap, ,500 added; 1 1-S miles 55 Sapling Stakes, ,500 added; 1-2 mile.... 72 Forward Stakes, ,500 added: 7-8 mile... 76 Golf Steeplechase, ,000 added; short course 30 Sixteen stakes are to be decided during the remaining thirty-one days of racing at Harlem. These include the Twentieth. Century Handicap, the Chicago Stakes, the Garden City Handicap, the Riverside Stakes, the Youngster Stakes, the Proviso Stakes and the Junior. Handicap, all of which closed in February. The heaviest nominators for the nine new stakes are: E. Corrigan, 49; Dur-nell and Herz, 3S; S. C. Hildreth, 27;* M. H. Tichenor and Co., 22; P. Dunne, 20; Fred Cook, 19; B. Schreiber, 16; J. W. Schorr, 15; C. Lind and Co., 15; C. R. Ellison, 14; J. Arthur, 14; J. B. Respess, 12; S. W. Streett, 12; T. C. McDowell, 11; G. C. Bennett and Co., 10.
