Big Ben was much the best, showed much speed throughout and never left the result in doubt. Floral Wreath closed up ground fast in the last quarter and finished resolutely. Alfredo was pinched off at the start and thrown clear out of the race. He made up ground rapidly in the final half and finished with a rush. Niaxus tired in the last eighth struggle. She moved up rapidly when turning for home and finished resolutely under a mild drive. James J. Corbett took what looked like a commanding lead on the far turn, but tired slightly in the last sixteenth. Pronta was undoubtedly the best. She was pinched out of position at the first turn and appeared to have little chance in the first half, but after rounding the far turn, she made up ground fast and finished resolutely. Atheola tired fast in the last sixteenth struggle. Alfred C. was well beaten just before turning for home after showing early speed. Scratched 42416 Alee, 97; 4241G St. Simonian, 102. Palm Reader stood a stretch drive gamely and had little trouble in outstaying Aggie Lewis in the final sixteenth for second place. Sir Hugh made a bold bid when turning into the final quarter, but was thoroughly beaten when a sixteenth from home. Nellie Eawn showed speed for five furlongs and then retired.
