Troy, suddenly improved, ran in close attendance on Hilary to the stretch, where he moved :p and poached a lead on this dilatory favorite and won in the last stride. Oro Viva, shuffled back in the early running and repeatedly interfered with, closed a big gap in the ast three furlongs and was easily best. Yellowstone got away poorly and had a rough lOurney in close quarters, but was steadily improving his position. Hilary gave a nice dis-Dlay of speed for five and a half furlongs and is about due. Floriana Belle ran a fair race :hroughout. Standard, nearly left, closed a big gap. First Chip was knocked out of it in he early running and will make good on a soft track. Mary Dunn finished well up. Honey -:uckle was nearly left. Scratched 13117 Miss Vera, 108. Overweights Yellowstone, 1 pound; Toltec, 2. Troy, show, evens. Oro Viva, show, 1 to 2. Rockaway broke in front but was outrun early by Otto Stifel, which he trailed closely to iie stretch and finally wore down at the end of a long drive, but was probably lucky to win. Otto Stifel got away fiatfooted and showing amazing speed in taking the lead so quickly, showed the way to the final sixteenth where Burns outrode Boland and scored a ucky victory on the more tired horse of the two. Judge, always a quick beginner, got iway to advantage but fell away directly and finally found himself in the ruck, from which tie singled himself out in the stretch where he finished an eased up third. Anirad held a forward position throughout and ran in surprisingly improved form. Lord Wadsworth received a poor start and closed a gap, but is probably best in mud. Solanus retired after i brief display of speed, is a grand looker and can do better. Creole Jim looks like a good 3ne and is reported to have worked phenomenal trials. Jennie Hughes followed the pacemaker closely to the stretch, where she got home by a narrow margin, winning a lucky race. Mountebank, on the inside and right on the heels of the leaders from the start in spite of a close stretch turn, was losing ground at the critical moment and finally came with a belated rush at the end. Planet but for boring out in the stretch run would probably have won, showed superior speed and stamina and is worth remembering. Velma Clark had a rough journey and finished running faster than everytl ing. Atwood, after getting away poorly, was steadily closing up ground.- Rene, nearly left, closed a big gap. Tom Kingsley got away poorly and was never dangerous but looks well physically. Jenne Hughes, show, 3 to 2. Mountebank, show, 1 to 2. Planet, show, G to 5. Atwood, show, 3 to 5. ! Arthur Ray, skillfully handled and reserved on the outside, always had clear sailing and when called on finished with a rush and was best. Expedient, suddenly improved, trailed th? .field for nearly six furlongs and finished with his customary cyclonic speed, is very gopd and should win .at once. Dotterel, badly handled and repeatedly interfered with, ran a game and improving third. Lunar had no mishaps but failed to stay in the closing drive and swerved all over the course. Elfonse ran as if short but showed fine speed and his worked well. El Oriente got away badly and had no chance. Cougar must have mud arid fails to stay on a hard track. San Nicholas la in rare form and forced a terrific pace throughout, coming away fast in the last sixteenth and was easily best. Iredeus ran lapped on the winner for six furlongs -before he succumbed and then gamely stood off the fast coming Dolly Hayman in the closing drivel and ran a high-class race. Dolly Hayman, after getting away in the lead, was gradually outrun, but never very far away. Her light weight told in the stretch run, where she closed a big gap. Kenilworth was outrun by the leaders and outstayed for third place A at the end after a fast and game effort, but was conceding too much weight. J. H. Bennett Y is worth remembering among slower ones, held a forward position for five furlongs and J may have been short. J, San Nicholas, show, 1 to 4. Iredeus, show, out. Dolly Hayman, show, 2 to 5. Avenger ran throughout in close attendance on the winner and lapped on her through the entire last quarter, but could never quite get up. Ebony received a poor send-off, and after running up into a contending position failed to stay and is evidently best in mud. Cheny closed up in the stretch run and ran a very fair race.
